The Weight Loss Odyssey: Day 1

Today marks the first day of taking Wegovy. After having difficulty losing weight through exercise, diet, and calorie reduction, enough was enough. To be honest, what really pushed me over the edge was when my hip started to hurt.
For years, my Mom, in that true Asian Mom fashion, told me I was too fat. Her reasoning was that I was over 100 pounds, which was too much for her. However, she neglected to realize that I am 5’8” and not the bare 5’ she is. Of course, I am going to weigh in the triple digits. At the time, it didn’t bother me as much because I was 130 lbs and looked healthy. Then, after high school, somehow I forgot to eat and got down to 115, which is an unhealthy weight for me. My bones were sticking out.
Now I am 37 years old and 200 lbs, so that means I could probably destroy a small village. I don’t eat meat, I’m active at both of my jobs, but stress has finally caught up with me. To be honest, the combination of stress, ADHD, anxiety, and a busy schedule is a vicious circle. Now that I finally have a handle on the ADHD, though, it is time to get back to a healthy fit weight, which is somewhere around 130 for me.
This morning, I took my first pill. It was tiny! The instructions specifically said to take it with “one sip” of water and nothing over 4oz. Just plain water. Afterward, I wasn’t supposed to eat for another 30 minutes. I was a little nauseous immediately, but it went away in about 10 minutes. Breakfast only consisted of one soft-boiled egg and a cup of coffee because I just wasn’t hungry. The same pattern continued throughout the day with tiny snacks. By the end of the day… I was finally able to maintain that caloric deficit! I somehow managed to eat exactly 1600 calories. Now I just have to continue to keep myself accountable.
